OpenLearn Access Points: Sky Learning

I didn't get to go to the BETT Show this year, but I was watching it's online component for a couple of announcements I thought might make appearance... And here's one: the relaunch of the Sky Learning website (http://www.sky.com/learning, which actually redirects to http://www.skylearning.uk.com/ )...

...which just happens to link through to some OpenLearn content:

Clicking for more info takes you through to a short description page for the unit:

The introduction ends with a link to the OpenLearn site and the appropriate Courses and Quals course registration page:

There aren't any obvious, or autodiscoverable, RSS feeds in sight on the site, (at least, nowhere I looked), but this is pretty much par for the course on Sky branded web properties, I think?

OpenLearn course listings are indexed on several other learning portals, I think, but I don't know which offhand. I did have a quick look for a "Find OpenLearn content from ..." area of the official OpenLearn landing page, hoping to find a listing of the educational portals that link back to OpenLearn content, but I couldn't find anything in that vein.

Whilst the Sky Learning listing appears to be just that, rather than a formal relationship (such as the OU relationship with the BBC, or Tesco (OU Course Discounts with the Tesco Clubcard)), it'll be interesting to see how the OU "relationship portfolio", as well as the broadcast strategy, play out over the next year or two.

Reports were floating around at the end of last year about how the OU would be bidding in as part of a consortium to take on the running of Teachers TV, presumably to complement both OpenLearn, and our school education CPD site, TeachandLearn.net (and maybe even the TESSA programme - Teacher Education in Sub-Saharan Africa (TESSA))? One thing that particularly amused me about that story was that David Puttnam, the OU Chancellor is part of a rival bid...

PS I posted the wrong link in the recent feedshow link presenter post. The demo can be found for real at http://ouseful.open.ac.uk/feedshow/social.php.
