My Web Birthday

I don't know about you, but my bank uses my birthday as one of the ways to find out that I am really me... which is why I try to be wary about posting my real birthday on public profiles.

However, many people do like to declare their birthday on their MySpace or Facebook profile, so how about this: we take a lead from the Queen and have two birthdays - one on the anniversary of our birth, and another one, that we announce on our public web profiles?

I mentioned the idea to Brian Kelly earlier this week, and he was in all in favour of it, suggesting that our web, internet, or just plan old public birthday might correspond to the date we first logged on... I'm not sure I can remember that far back, though..

Whenever a website wants to gather marketing information before it will allow me to register or download software for evaluation, I make it a practice to screw up their data as much as possible. Inevitably, this means I am a 98 year old female whose email address is abc@def.com (I am 98 years old, so a little hearing loss is to be exprected).
Surely everyone does this. Don't they? ;-)

If you were in Second Life, your rezzday would be in your profile and be an excuse for a party. Apparently.

You know what, I don't think they do... ;-)

Wouldn't there be a big skew to official birthdays in September or October? Same effect as produced the September that never ended?

(I'm startled to note that today is the 5154th September 1993, if my sums are right.)
