OU Opens Up Open Content Stream

At last the public announcement has been made - the OU will be getting into open content in a reasonably big way, thanks in part to a grant from the Hewlett Foundation.

The Open University revolutionised assumptions about who could learn, and how they could learn.

Now we're doing it again.

The Open Content Initiative (OCI) will make educational resources freely available on the Internet, with state of the art learning support and collaboration tools to connect students and educators.

The OU is also part of the Creative Archive project, though I'm not sure how these relate (perhaps CA will be a subset of OCI?)

(Apparently, it seems that work done last year identifying a learning delivery system for the OCI had more than a little to do with the choice of Moodle to be used as the new OU VLE...)
