UCBerkeley Youtube Playlist Course Browser & Video Lecture Search

Another thing I spotted looking through the Youtube API last night was a way of calling up a Youtube playlist feed for a particular user.

And finding a demo use for it has been itching me all morning... so I just took time out from marking for a quick coffee break and a 20 minute hack to put together a little script that reuses the playlist feed pipe and generates an OPML feed containing links to the enclosure augmented playlist feeds.

As way of a demo, here's a way of Grazing the UC Berkeley on playlists on Youtube using the OPML generator (http://ouseful.open.ac.uk/xmltools/youtubeUserPlaylistsOPML.php?user=ucberkeley):

Recalling this earlier demo of a Grazr widget that allows you to search for UC Berkeley videos, the two OPML feeds can be rolled in to one:

I guess I could now add a feed for related videos for each video in a particular course, or convert the above widget to a Facebook app, but my half hour is up?

PS if the idea of Grazr delivered content appears to you, why not check out Feedlearner...
