The Future of Photography, Redux

A few months ago, I posted some thoughts on The Future of Photography, some elements of which I picked up on again just a few days ago in Embedding Google Maps and Adding Photos to Google Earth.

As there are plenty of video demos around in this area, I put together a Splashcast show on the topic, and added to to my OUseful Stories channel.

The show is currently first up on the OUseful Stories channel. If the show isn't at the top of the channel, you'll be able to find it from the Channel Guide - the show's called "The Future of Photography".

Add OUseful Stories to your page

The running time is, err, quite long, but the movies are many and varied, including shorts on photo-morphing, timelapsed movies, Photoshop fakery, Google Earth embedding, phototourism, and 3D model generation. The audio on the second movie is rather jarring, but most of the other soundtracks aren't too bad...

To skip a segment, hover over the bottom of the Splashcast widget and a popup toolbar will appear from which you can step on to the next movie.

The one problem I have with Splashcast is that I can't find a way of directly linking to a show, other than by creating a channel that contains only that show, and adding the channel to a player that only plays that channel.

If you know how to link directly to a show, and/or how to embed a player that starts playing an arbitrary channel, or arbitrary show other than the one at the top of a channel list assigned to a particular player, please let me know...

PS if your holiday snaps didn't turn out quite how you wanted them to, why not check out OUr Digital Photography short course?
