Way too many posts today - here's the last (I'm trying to clear my open FF tabs..!) GROU.PS:
* GROU.PS is a social groupware. Briefly, it is a sharing platform for social groups.
* GROU.PS responds to growing needs coming along with Web 2.0 revolution. ... * Besides, in order to prevent duplicate efforts, GROU.PS can abstract distributed popular service providers like Flickr (photo sharing), del.icio.us (bookmark sharing), Digg (bookmark sharing)...
...
Abstract for No More Migration Hassles
To enjoy GROU.PS advantages, you don't need to change your favourite bookmark, photo, blog service providers. GROU.PS can abstract and synchronize with them; you just enter your login information.
Universal Wrapper
Want to extend the capabilities of your existing Yahoo Groups or Google Groups account?
You can easily do so simply by entering your login information and answer a few questions. GROU.PS wraps these services and handles the rest.
This list of services they wrap is a good satrt, covering Google mas (no Yahoo! maps option?) Typepad, Wordpress and Blogger blogs etc., Flickr (how about Riya?), del.icio.us, Digg and Reddit, with 30 boxes and Google calendars on the way and more promised.
The virtual/personal desktops/startpages (whatever...), such as Netvibes or Pageflakes, are showing how readily feed'n'API based services can be displayed together, and GRO.PS appears to betaking this form of integation to the next level - in particular, a functional one.
So, this is just the sort of thing I had in mind when I blogged (opaquely, perhaps!) about ad hoc learning communities.
Of ocurse, as with the best online services, it's sometimes handy to have a desktop client too, a role that something like the Plex PLE (screenshots here) may be able to play?
