Performative Tagging - toprint

One of the many half-written technical reports I haven't got round to finishing is an informal analysis of the sorts of tag I've used for tagging my delicious bookmarks.

One class of tags in particular is ripe for playing with - performative tags:

An utterance is a performative when its function is to perform the action mentioned rather than to express a proposition about it
Wikipedia...

The idea of performative tag is one that is operationalised - or made to perform - using some sort of script that acts on links carrying that tag, like the delicious playtagger or even the feedthru tag I use to feed links through my OUseful feedburner feed on a daily basis.

Here then is a quick spec to myself about what I need to do with my toprint tag to get a daily print out of pages so tagged:

  1. Take a daily feed (e.g. using the daily blog posting feature or the delicious API (e.g. to get my bookmarks for March 11, 2005, I'd use http://del.icio.us/api/posts/get?dt=2005-03-11) also filtered by tag (e.g. http://del.icio.us/api/posts/get?dt=2006-03-27&tag=toprint (hmm - the tag filter doesn't seem to want to work for me at the moment);
  2. Use a script to open each page in the filtered feed, bundle them into one long file, and then send this file off to the printer.
  3. Remove the toprint tag from each printed item (and perhaps replace it with printed)
