del.icio.us OPML Generator

One of the things I hope to look at in earnest this year are tools for managing the display of link resources, such as my social bookmarks via their RSS feeds.

This 'work' is an obvious extension to the MyOpenLibrary odoodles I made last year.

Importing del.icio.us links into services such as Netvibes (which I identified as one possibly appropriate environment) can be simplified if the links are made available as bundles via an appropriate RSS/syndication feed. These bundles will contain a list of related links, as for example characterised by some combination of username and/or tag(s). Collections of bundles (i.e. collections of RSS feeds) can then be combined in an OPML file.

As a short term measure, I have popped up a crude OPML generator for producing collections of links to del.icio.us RSS feeds to del.icio.us OPML generator.

This is how it looks:

At the moment, you have to copy and paste the OPML into a text file, which can then be saved and uploaded to wherever. I'll work on a more satisfactory way of saving this info if I get a chance.
