Isle of Wight School Catchment Areas - Interactive Map
For a variety of reasons, many UK local authorities are currently in the position of having to consider
the closure of smaller, often rural, schools. Engaging as it must in the public consultation exercise
around the plans for restructuring education on the Isle of Wight, the Eduwight website provides
access to a wide range of infromation about the various ways forward identified by the Council.
One of the resources is a PDF document showing a map of the Island with school catchment areas
plotted over it used a fixed diameter catchment area for each school.
This interactive map allows you to set different catchment areas for each school sector and look at the
coverage over the island as a whole using this different settings (the rationale being that you might be happy
travelling 1km to a primary school, but not 5km, or 10km to high school, and so on).
Views of just the schools in a particular sector are possible by hiding the sectors you do not wish to view.
Individual schools can be hidden from a view to model effect of closing that school.
Each time you change the view/hide setings, you will need to clear the map and then replot the catchment circles.
Default catchment: km (Hide unknown sector schools )
